Allow for community/sector prioritization by identifying those with high hazard vulnerabitlies.
Provide scientific justification for prioritizing communities for Disaster Risk Reduction intervention
Allow for more targetted project interventions based on the level and type of vulnerability
Strengthen DRR capacity and increase awareness
Provide a user-friendly tool that can be used to inform decision-making at national, parish, sector and community levels
Web-based user interface to view the vulnerabilities of communities and critical sectors
Allow filter/query of specific areas of hazard vulnerability
Dashboard displaying geospatial representation of hazard vulnerability data and information at national, parish, sector and community level
Objective Assessment feature that identifies and recommends suitable project intervention for areas with high vulnerability
Ability to measure the capacity of a sector or community to respond to disasters
The NVRI Database is the instrument that houses all the data that is displayed inside the online platform of the NVRI Tool. The NVRI Database is managed by the ODPEM and NSDMB who are responsible for adding new data and updating the online platform. The public can view the NVRI Database but cannot manipulate the data or information.
The NVRI Tool is the web-based platform that is accessible to the public and includes the formulated results fro all indicators. The user can view, filter and query the information provided in the Tool for analysis and decision making purposes. The NVRI Tool also allows users to make enquires or provide feeback.
Yes, maps you create by filtering the information you need can be downloaded as JPEG or PDF
The NVRI Tool provided linkages to other agency websites that be accessed for additional information as required
The ODPEM can be contacted for any information required that is not currently available on the platform.
A suite of 280 indicators are currently being used to determine the level of vulnerability for communities and critical sectors. The indicators are divided into four (4) categories:
Physical E.g. Building/ infrastructure condition (age, material used etc
Economic E.g. Employment status
Environment E.g. % forest cover
Social E.g. % households with access to potable water
Each category represents 25% of the total vulnerability score for a community/sector.
